Hansjochen Schwieger (* 1945 in Radeberg ) is a German architect .

Life

From 1966 to 1972 Schwieger studied architecture at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen ( RWTH ). He received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation and completed his studies with the academic degree of graduate engineer . This was followed by a position in Great Britain as a research assistant at University College London - Bartlett School of Architecture - and a position at Denys Lasdun and Partners in London. A long-term collaboration connected him with the Göttingen architect Jochen Brandi. In 1981 Hansjochen Schwieger opened his own architecture office with a focus on residential construction , industrial construction , renovation of old buildings and monument preservation ; since 2017 he has been working in partnership with Alessa Brill and Bodo Barczewski.

From 1996 to 2012 Schwieger was chairman of the town planning council of the city of Göttingen ; since 1981 he has been a judge in numerous architectural competitions . From 2015 to 2019 he was a member of the design advisory board of the city of Wolfenbüttel .

Commercial buildings, industrial buildings, etc. a. Täfler / Dransfeld and Adams am Wall were awarded the prize for exemplary industrial buildings in 1978, 1980 and 1985 and with prizes from the “Association of German Architects”. Important buildings followed after 1st prizes in architectural competitions, a. a. the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen (1st prize 2003), the measure of the Ecumenical Hainich Clinic in Mühlhausen (Thuringia) in 2007, the new construction of a high-security area for the measure of Göttingen and heat supply for the Leineberg youth institution, competition 1 Prize and research and laboratory building in the Science Park Göttingen.

With technically and formally high-quality buildings, it sets itself apart from spectacular and often excited "event architecture".
