Jakub Ignacy Cyboni

Jakub Ignacy Cyboni (Latin Jacobus Ignatius Cyboni ; born July 28, 1660 in Lublin , Poland-Lithuania , † November 29, 1728 ) was an Italian-born Roman Catholic priest and friar of the missionaries of St. Vincent de Paul . He was the leader of seminaries and superior of convents of the Order in Poland.

Life

He came from an Italian family in Lublin. Jerzy Cyboni was the first mayor there in 1680, Krzysztof Jan Cyboni doctor of medicine and 1688 first mayor. Jakub entered the order of missionaries in Warsaw in 1682 and was ordained a monk in 1684.

From 1695 he was superior of the convent in Chełmno , also head of the seminary and provost of the town church of St. Mary until 1699. In 1702 he was mentioned as superior in Kraków- Stradom. In 1714 Cyboni was Superior in Lublin and head of the new seminary.

In 1716 Jakub Cyboni became provost ( praepositus ) in Wilna (Vilnius) and in 1717 superior. He was involved in the continuation of the reconstruction work on the convent buildings after the destruction by Swedish troops and had a new religious seminary ( novitiate ) built, which was opened in 1725. That year he became superior in Łowicz .
