Hanspeter Fischer

Hanspeter Fischer (born July 3, 1930 in Aarau ; † July 4, 2009 in Frauenfeld , entitled to live in Meisterschwanden ) was a Swiss politician ( BGB / SVP ).

biography

Hanspeter Fischer, the son of a farmer , studied agricultural science at the ETH Zurich from 1950 and graduated in 1955 with a diploma. In 1956/57 he was initially a research assistant at the Swiss Farmers' Association in Brugg and from 1957 to 1960 at the Institute for Farm Management and Agricultural Engineering at ETH Zurich. In 1955 he joined the Farmers, Trade and Citizens' Party (which became part of the Swiss People's Party in 1971). From 1960 to 1975 he was secretary of the farmers' association of the Canton of Thurgau and from 1962 to 1975 a member of the Thurgau Cantonal Council . In 1963 he was elected to the National Council, making him the youngest member at the age of 33. He was chairman of the SVP parliamentary group . He remained until 1983 in the National Council, 1979-80, he was the National President . From 1975 to 1994, Fischer was a member of the government of the canton of Thurgau and headed the economics directorate. In 1994 he resigned for health reasons.

Fischer was particularly committed to agriculture and the Thurgau economy.
