Hanspeter Schmitt

Hanspeter Schmitt OCarm (* 1959 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German theologian .

Life

Schmitt comes from the Aschaffenburg parish of St. Josef . He studied philosophy and theology in Bamberg from 1980 to 1986 and completed his training in the pastoral seminar of the PTH Münster with a focus on community and clinic pastoral care in 1987/1988 . After being ordained a priest in 1988, he was employed from 1988 to 1990 in religious instruction in schools and as a seminar companion, as well as working in youth, vocational and parish pastoral work to this day. From 1994 to 1999 he was a research assistant at the chair for moral theology at the University of Bamberg , where he received his doctorate in moral theology under Volker Eid in 2001 . From 2001 to 2005 he was a research assistant . Since 2005 he has been provisional head of the professorship in moral theology at the Faculty of Catholic Theology, University of Bamberg, where he received his habilitation in 2007 in the subject of theological ethics . In the 2007/2008 winter semester he was in the chair for theological ethics at the Theological University in Chur , where he was appointed full professor for moral theology ( theological ethics ) on November 19, 2007 . In the fall semester of 2012, he had a teaching position at the University of Zurich ( Brigitte Tag chair ).
