Hanuš Fantl

Hanuš Fantl (born December 16, 1917 Chrast near Chrudim ; † March 18, 1942 in Mauthausen concentration camp ) was a Czech poet and victim of National Socialism.

Fantl was the youngest of five children in a Jewish family. He lived in Prague with his wife Helena . In October 1941 Fantl was arrested for his work in the resistance against the occupation of the country and taken to Mauthausen concentration camp; there he was shot on March 18, 1942. Collections of his poems written between 1938 and 1941 were published in the 1950s and 1960s.
