Harald Burger

Harald Burger (born August 16, 1940 in Duisburg ) is a German - Swiss linguist .

He received his doctorate in 1964 from the University of Zurich , where he also completed his habilitation in 1970 and was appointed associate professor and in 1975 full professor of Germanic philology. In 2006 he retired.

His main research interests are contemporary German, media linguistics , phraseology and lexicology as well as language acquisition .

In 1990 he received Swiss citizenship .
