Harald Fritz (born November 2, 1954 ) is a former Thuringian soccer player . For the FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt and the BSG Motor Suhl he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association .

Soccer career

FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt

In 1969 Fritz was accepted into the youth team of FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. After he had gone through all the youth teams, he played from 1972 with the 2nd team of FC Rot-Weiß in the second-rate GDR league . A year later he made his debut in the league. On October 6, 1973 he was substituted on in the match on the 7th day of the match between Dynamo Dresden and FC Rot-Weiß (1-0) in the 58th minute. By the end of the season there were two more short appearances in the major league. It took until the 1976/77 season before the 1.74 m tall Fritz had won a regular place in the league team. As a midfielder in constantly changing positions, he played 24 point games and scored three goals. He was able to defend his regular place until 1980, only in the 1977/78 season he was injured for 15 game days. Fritz played his most successful season in 1979/80, in which he only missed one point game and set a personal season record with four goals. His season highlight was his participation in the final of the GDR soccer cup . As a central midfielder, he played with FC Rot-Weiß against FC Carl-Zeiss Jena on May 17, 1980, but lost with his team after extra time with 1: 3. In the following seasons Fritz could not build on his previous achievements. After he had only played five league games from the summer of 1980 to the winter of 1981, he was given up to the GDR league team Motor Weimar for half a year . He then belonged again to the league squad of FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt during the 1982/83 and 1983/84 seasons, but was only used five times in the league.

BSG Motor Suhl

For the 1984/85 season, the Erfurt club Fritz reported again for its first team. After this had not been used in the league until the 5th matchday, the GDR league promoted Motor Suhl Fritz applied for a change to his own team. The Suhler urgently needed an offensive player, as they had unexpectedly lost two strikers. On the 8th matchday Fritz came for the first time for BSG Motor Suhl in the league, by the end of the season there were a total of 13 premier league appearances, in which Fritz was usually used as a right winger, but the hopes for goals were not fulfilled. Newcomer Suhl could not achieve relegation and rose again after a year in the second division. For Fritz it was the last league season, with which came to 150 league games in which he had scored eleven goals. In the summer of 1985 he ended his career as a football player in the performance area and then played for the third-rate district division Motor Gotha .

Trainer

Fritz had already obtained his sports teacher diploma in 1980. After the political change in 1989 he acquired the A license as a football coach with the DFB . However, he never appeared as a coach of higher-class teams. His last position as coach of a men's team was SSV 07 Schlotheim in the Thuringia state class. Today Fritz works as a trainer and supervisor in the boarding school of the youth soccer performance center SSV 07 Schlotheim.
