Harald Lie
Harald Lie (born November 21, 1902 in Kristiania , † May 23, 1942 in Asker ) was a Norwegian composer .
Life
Lie lived in the USA in his youth and worked in various professions, including bricklayer and piano tuner. He then went to Leipzig to study piano making there. In 1929 he returned to Norway and the following year he studied composition with Fartein Valen . He made his debut in 1935 with an Elegi for baritone and orchestra and had his first success as a composer in 1938 with his Second Symphony. Another symphony ( Symfonisk dans , 1942) remained unfinished. His most famous work is the orchestral song Skinnvengbrev (1939). He also composed chamber music and choral songs for male and female choirs.
