Harald Reiter

Harald Reiter (* 24. September 1961 in Augsburg ) is a German lawyer , since 2012 Judge of the Federal High Court and since 2017 Deputy Chairman of the Independent Panel to control the foreign-Ausland- communications intelligence of the Federal Intelligence Service .

Life

Reiter began his legal career in 1990 as a public prosecutor in the Bavarian judiciary. From 1991 to 1994 he was seconded as a research assistant to the Attorney General at the Federal Court of Justice . He then received a judge's position at the Augsburg Regional Court . From 1998 to 2005 he was entrusted full-time with the management of the trainee training in Augsburg.

In 2003 he was appointed judge at the Munich Higher Regional Court. Two years later he returned to the Augsburg Regional Court to first chair a criminal chamber and later that of a civil chamber . In 2009 he moved back to the Munich Higher Regional Court. Here he belonged to two civil senates and the senate for agricultural matters. In 2012 he was appointed to the Federal Court of Justice and assigned to the 4th Criminal Senate. On July 15, 2013 he moved to the III. Civil Senate . On March 8, 2017 , at the suggestion of the President of the Federal Court of Justice, Reiter was appointed by the Federal Cabinet as deputy chairman of the Federal Intelligence Service's international-foreign telecommunications intelligence monitoring body for six years.
