Harald Schleicher

Harald Schleicher (* 1951 in Backnang ) is a German filmmaker , film scholar and artist . His work focuses on experimental film , documentary film and video installation .

Life

Harald Schleicher studied fine arts from 1973 to 1979 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and from 1983 to 1990 German language and literature and film studies at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . He obtained his doctorate in 1991. phil. with a thesis on “autothematic films by Wim Wenders , Jean-Luc Godard and Federico Fellini ”.

Since 1993 he has been professor of the film and video class at the Mainz Academy of Fine Arts (formerly the Academy of Fine Arts Mainz).

Harald Schleicher lives in Wiesbaden .

Artistic work

His first film “Signs of the Times” was awarded the German Film Prize in the short films category in 1981. Since 1997 he has been producing experimental found footage videos using compositing processes.
