Harald Züchner

Harald Züchner (born February 1, 1943 ) is a German chemist ( physical chemistry ) who is a professor at the University of Münster .

Züchner received his doctorate in 1969 as an academic student of Ewald Wicke in Münster . He completed his habilitation in physical chemistry there in 1978 and has been a professor in Münster since 1982. He was Dean of the Department of Chemistry from 1990 to 1991 and 1993 to 1997. From 1999 to 2000 he was managing director of the Institute for Physical Chemistry. He was also Vice President of the University on several occasions.

He deals with surface analysis including X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS), scanning electron microscopes and Auger electron spectroscopy (AES), with electrochemistry and numerical simulation. Among other things, he studies the diffusion of hydrogen in metals (including palladium ).
