The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was a hotel - casino in Las Vegas , Nevada. The establishment had 670 hotel rooms; the casino extended to 2,800 m². The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was part of the Hard Rock Cafe brand .

The complex was designed for a younger audience and was known for its lavish pool area and its exclusive Vanity nightclub . On February 3rd, 2020 the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino was closed. It is to be renovated and redesigned and will reopen as the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas in the fall of 2020.

history

The hotel was opened in 1995 by Peter Marton, a co-founder of the Hard Rock Cafe franchise. In May 2006, Morton announced that it would sell the property to Morgans Hotel Group for $ 770 million. The sale and transfer of ownership took place in February 2007.

In April 2018 Richard Branson's hotel group Virgin Hotels announced the takeover of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino as well as renovation plans for the complex. The hotel and casino are scheduled to be redesigned, renovated and then reopened as the Virgin Hotel Las Vegas in 2020.

The Joint is a concert and event hall with up to 4,000 seats. Artists and bands that have performed at the Joint include Guns N 'Roses , Mötley Crüe , Morrissey and the Scorpions .

  • On June 27, 2002, John Entwistle , bassist for The Who , died of a heart attack in the hotel.
  • On April 6, 2006, professional skateboarder Danny Way jumped into a quarter pipe with an acid drop from the big guitar that hung on the outside of the café , and set a new world record.
