Got 2 Luv U is a dancehall - pop song by the Jamaican dancehall artist Sean Paul in collaboration with the US singer Alexis Jordan . The song was the first single from Sean Paul's fifth studio album Tomahawk Technique and was released by the Atlantic Records label on July 19, 2011.

Creation & publication

The chorus and hook of Got 2 Luv U was originally written by Ryan Tedder . A year later, Atlantic offered the song Sean Paul, who completed the song in collaboration with the Norwegian music producer and songwriter team Stargate . The song was recorded at Roc The Mic Studios in New York City , mixing took place at Ninja Club Studios in Atlanta .

Got 2 Luv U was released in the United States on July 19, 2011. The single CD was released in Germany on September 16, 2011.

Got 2 Luv U is written in verse - chorus form, which is separated from the hook line . The song is written from the perspective of a couple describing their love for one another. While Alexis Jordan recites the chorus, Sean Paul raps the verses.

Music video

The music video for Got 2 Luv U was recorded on August 29, 2011 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and directed by Ben Mor. It shows Sean Paul and Alexis Jordan in various locations in the hotel, including in a room, at a live performance and in a parking garage. The music video was viewed over 263 million times on YouTube (as of August 2017).

Commercial win

Got 2 Luv U was very successful in the European music market and achieved several top 10 placements. In the German single charts , the song rose to number 9 on September 16, 2011 and reached number 3 on October 14, its highest position in these charts, which could be held for another week. In total, the song spent ten weeks in the top 10 in Germany and 36 weeks in the entire single charts. For Sean Paul this was the fifth and for Alexis Jordan the first Top 10 success in Germany . Got 2 Luv U was awarded a platinum record by the Federal Association of the Music Industry for over 300,000 copies sold . In the Austrian single charts , the song also reached the top 10 at number 7 and was awarded a gold record by IFPI Austria . Sean Paul achieved a number one placement with this song in the Swiss charts . Here, too, Got 2 Luv U was awarded a platinum record.

In the British singles charts missed Got 2 Luv U 11th place just the top 10 after the song on October 29, debuted at number 11 in these charts, but then could not continue to improve. In 2012 the song reached the charts again for three weeks and in 2013 again for one week. In the US Billboard Hot 100 , however, Sean Paul was unable to build on his earlier successes with this song, number 84 represents the highest position in these charts. Got 2 Luv U also achieved top 10 placements in Belgium (Wallonia place 9), France (4th place), the Netherlands (9th place), Norway (8th place) and Spain (8th place).
