The Hardenberg-Gymnasium in Fürth is a state-run science and technology , modern language and economics high school (with 1,162 students in the 2018/2019 school year).
history
The school was founded in 1833, from 1877 it was a "Royal Realschule with a commercial department" and from 1920 a Oberrealschule . In 1966 it was renamed to its current name. The current school building (at Kaiserstraße 92) was moved into in 1912. Students (of the Royal High School) included Ludwig Erhard , Gustav Schickedanz , Henry Kissinger and Jakob Wassermann .
The high school is named after Karl August von Hardenberg . The former high school is called Hardenberg-Gymnasium, according to a proposal from the circles of the former parents' council . The connection between Prince Karl August von Hardenberg and Fürth results from his work as the first minister in the Margraviate of Ansbach , which fell to Prussia in 1791. Hardenberg, who professed the idea of " enlightened absolutism ", did a lot to promote trade and commerce in the city of Fürth, so he actively supported the development to which the school owes its establishment.
