Hardie Scott

Hardie Scott (born June 7, 1907 in Bala Cynwyd , Pennsylvania , †  November 2, 1999 ) was an American politician . Between 1947 and 1953 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Hardie Scott was the son of Congressman John Roger Kirkpatrick Scott (1873–1945). He attended the Taft School in Watertown ( Connecticut ) until 1926 . This was followed by studies at Yale University until 1930 . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Pennsylvania and his admission to the bar in 1934, he began to work in this profession. Politically, he became a member of the Republican Party .

In the 1946 congressional election , Scott was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Michael J. Bradley on January 3, 1947 . After two re-elections, he was able to complete three legislative terms in Congress by January 3, 1953 . These were shaped by the events of the Cold War and the Korean War .

In 1952 Hardie Scott renounced another candidacy. In the following years he did not appear politically.
