Hardy Holte

Hardy Holte (born April 20, 1957 in Sasolburg , South Africa ) is a German author and psychologist.

Life

Hardy Holte graduated from Konrad-Adenauer-Gymnasium in Westerburg in 1977 . In 1986 he completed his studies in psychology with the academic degree of diploma psychologist at the Psychological Institute of the University of Bonn . Until 1999 he worked there as a research assistant in the methodology & diagnostics department with a focus on research in traffic psychology. Since 1999 he has been a traffic psychologist at the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt). In 2012 he did his doctorate at the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn with the topic "Factors influencing the driving behavior and accident risk of young drivers."

Services

In 2000 he published his first popular science book on the psychology of driving a car ("Racing love. Why we love cars. And what we should consider"). From 2004 to 2007 he was a freelance editor at the magazine for traffic safety. During this time he wrote numerous articles in the column "Schlaglichter". a. were also published in the book "Der Automobil Mensch". In 2015 he was co-editor of the book “Verkehrssicherheitskommunikation. Contributions of empirical research to strategic accident prevention ”. Since 1987 he has published specialist articles on various topics in traffic psychology . His focus is on a. among young drivers, older road users, safety communication and theoretic development. He developed the dual-process model of mobility behavior, a scale for recording attitudes towards speed and a scale for recording the expectation of competence ( self-efficacy ) of young drivers.

In 2005 he published his first novel entitled Die Zeit in Afrika . In 2014 an illustrated book for children with the title Felix in Africa was published . In 2015 this illustrated book was also published in English.
