Georg Rudinger

Georg Rudinger (born June 21, 1942 in Leipzig ) is a German gerontologist and emer. Professor of psychology at the University of Bonn .

Life

Georg Rudinger graduated from high school in 1962 at the humanistic Kaiser-Karls-Gymnasium in Aachen. From 1962 to 1967 he studied psychology, philosophy and psychopathology at the University of Bonn . From 1967 to 1971 he worked as a research assistant in various research projects, such as the Bonn longitudinal study of aging (BOLSA) .

Georg Rudinger worked for WDR2 radio and WDR television from 1969 to 1978. In the entertainment department at WDR2 radio, he co-designed the programs "Feeding allowed", the songwriter hit parade and the carnival hit parade . From 1972 Rudinger designed, among other things, the programs Kopf um Kopf and Privatissimum as part of the science department of WDR television . In 1973 he and Hans Ahlborn, Alexander von Cube and Willi Vollmann received the Gruner + Jahr Award for Media Research.

In 1971 he did his doctorate with Hans Thomae on the subject of "Intelligence in Old Age". In 1974 he became a professor at the University of Bonn and in 2010 after a three-year extension he was released from his duties.

Georg Rudinger has been married to Helga Rudinger (née Schäfer) since 1965 and has two children.

Services

Georg Rudinger held various visiting professorships, for example at the Pennsylvania State University (1987), at the University of Geneva (1988/89), at the University of Leipzig (Wilhelm-Wundt Professorship, 1990) and at the University of Leiden (1995). Long research stays took him to Temple University Philadelphia and the University of California .

His special research areas are developmental psychology over the lifespan, technology, new media, mobility (and old age) as well as the history of science and intellectual history. From 2000 to 2006 he was Dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn. He is the founder of the Center for Evaluation and Methods (ZEM). He is the founder and speaker of the Center for Aging Cultures (ZAK). Since mid-2010 he has been the managing partner of the survey center Bonn (uzbonn). Rudinger worked as a freelancer for WDR in the 1970s.

Memberships and functions

Georg Rudinger was a liaison professor at the German National Academic Foundation from 1988 to 1992 . From 1995 to 2000 he was chairman of the structure commission and finance officer of the philosophy faculty. From 2000 to 2006 he was Dean of the Philosophical Faculty of the University of Bonn. From 2007 to 2010, Rudinger was the rector's representative for evaluation and quality assurance.

His main research areas were statistical models, methods, surveys, diagnostics and evaluation. These topics are supplemented by research in the areas of developmental psychology across the lifespan, technology, new media, mobility (and age), and the history of science and the history of ideas. Research projects were / are:

  • Healthy Campus at the University of Bonn and the Sport University Cologne.
  • AGE-V3: Traffic-related key data and road safety-relevant health data of older road users with the Institute for Occupational Physiology at the University of Dortmund (IfADo) and the Federal Highway Research Institute
  • MOBIL 2030: Mobility culture in an aging society - scenarios for the year 2030.
