Harkishan Singh Surjeet
Harkishan Singh Surjeet (born March 23, 1916 in Jalandhar , † August 1, 2008 in Noida ) was an Indian politician of the CPI (M) .
From 1992 to 2005 he was General Secretary of the CPI (M). Prakash Karat became his successor. From 1964 to 2008 Surjeet was a member of the Politburo . Surjeet was one of the founders of the party's first Politburo. He died of cardiac arrest on August 1, 2008 at the age of 92. He had been in Noida Metro Hospital for treatment since July 25, 2008 .
