Harold John Aldington

Harold John Aldington (born September 5, 1902 in Walworth , London , † April 1, 1976 in Henley-on-Thames , Oxfordshire ) was a British racing driver and co-owner of the sports car manufacturer Frazer Nash . He took part in numerous events, including the Le Mans 24-hour race and the 1932 German Grand Prix .

Frazer Nash

Frazer Nash was taken over in Isleworth by brothers HJ and WH Adlington in 1926 and renamed the company AFN Ltd. around. H. J. Aldington and his brother built very popular, but also quite spartan vehicles for sports car races. The two-seater sports car consisted almost entirely of a chassis and engine in an unmistakably British style. From 1934 AFN was the BMW general importer for the entire British Empire.

The vehicles were driven in numerous races by well-known racing drivers such as Stirling Moss .

Racing

Aldington was successful in many races with both the self-built and the BMWs he built, as well as the Frazer Nash BMW 319/1 and the BMW 328 .

He finished third in the 1949 Le Mans 24-hour race . He was registered at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1951 , but not at the start. He was successful at the 1935 Keselbergrennen with the BMW 319/1 . He also took part in the 1932 German Grand Prix .
