Harri Paris

Harri Paris (born April 6 . Jul / 18th April  1891 greg. In Viljandi , † 7. October 1941 in Tallinn ) was an Estonian actor .

Life

Harri Theodor Johann Paris studied pharmacy at the Vladimir University in Ukrainian Kiev . He later trained as an actor at the Schmolitsch Theater School in the Russian capital Saint Petersburg . He then traveled to Germany , Austria and France .

Paris gained his first acting experience in 1910 in Pärnu, West Estonia . From 1912 to 1921 he was seen as an actor in Saint Petersburg and in provincial Russian cities. After the revolution in Russia and the proclamation of Estonian independence, Paris returned to his homeland.

From 1921 to 1941 Paris was a professional actor at the Estonia National Theater in Tallinn. There he also staged plays, among others by Bayard Veiller and René Fauchois .

Because of his wife, the Jewish hat maker Keila Paris (1891-1941), Harri Paris came under increasing pressure during the German occupation of Estonia from August 1941. To avoid deportation to the National Socialist extermination camps, both committed suicide on October 7, 1941 in Tallinn. They have found their final resting place in the Liiva district cemetery in Tallinn .
