Ľubomír Machyniak (born February 7, 1971 in Brezno ) is a former Slovak and previously Czechoslovak biathlete .

Ľubomír Machyniak lives in Hronec and started for Dukla Banská Bystrica . The sports teacher started biathlon in 1980. He started in the Biathlon World Cup in the early 1990s , until 1993 for Czechoslovakia, then for Slovakia. For the first time at the Biathlon World Championships he was used in Borovets in 1993 and was 82nd of the sprint. In 1995 he was in Antholz 47th of the individual, 56th of the sprint and with Ľuboš Čaja , Jozef Molcan and Maroš Leitner 13th in the relay race. In the following 1995/96 season Machyniak was able to win World Cup points for the first time in a sprint in Osrblie in eleventh place. He then started at the 1996 Biathlon World Championships in Ruhpolding . There he was 60th of the individual, 78th of the pursuit and with Čaja, Molcan and Leitner 15th in the relay. The 1996/97 season culminated in the 1997 Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie. He finished the individual as 80th, was 56th of the sprint and with Marek Matiaško , Molcan and Čaja 20th in the team race. Early in the 1997/98 season he was able to achieve his only placement among the top ten in the World Cup with eighth place in an individual in Östersund . Highlight of the career were the 1998 Winter Olympics from Nagano . At the competitions in Nozawa Onsen Machyniak came in 38th place in the individual and was 41st in the sprint. Later in the year, he also started at the 1998 Summer Biathlon World Championships in Osrblie. He was 53rd in the sprint, 47th in the pursuit and with Milan Augustin , Radovan Hasilla and Matiaško seventh in the relay competition. The last major event and career completion was the 1999 biathlon world championships at Holmenkollen in Oslo . The Slovak was used in the singles, in which he was 73rd.
