description

Overview plan of the residential park and Harry-Glück-Park

Harry Glück Park is 123,000 m² in size. This concerns the green space in and around the Alt Erlaa residential park, which was built between 1973 and 1985 . In the spacious park there are walking paths laid out in overlapping circles, children's playgrounds with climbing towers and sand playgrounds, soccer fields and drinking fountains . There is a flowing transition to the nearby recreational area around the Liesing , which makes the facility look even bigger than it is anyway. The park is interrupted by the 3 towers of the residential park Alt Erlaa, the Kaufpark Alt Erlaa, the residential park church and the adjoining residential complex Osramgrund .

history

Harry Glück was ceremoniously christened after him on February 20, 2015 on the occasion of the 90th birthday of the architect of the Alt Erlaa residential park, Harry Glück in his presence. It is therefore a rarity, as it is one of the few traffic areas in Vienna that was named during the honored's lifetime. This was made possible because the name was given by the landowner , the Gesiba , and not by the City of Vienna. As a result, the name has not yet been found in the public city map on the website of the City of Vienna. During the naming ceremony, a maple tree , Harry Glück's favorite tree , was planted in the park as a lucky tree. The naming of the park is intended to honor Harry Glück's endeavor to create as much green space as possible for the residents in his residential buildings. The idea for the Harry-Glück-Park goes back to the initiative of the graphic artist and resident Michael Hierner, who also designed the logo of the Harry-Glück-Park.
