Harry T. Crawford, Jr. (born April 17, 1952 in Shreveport , Louisiana , USA ) is an American Democratic politician in Alaska .

Crawford moved to Alaska in 1975 to earn a living as a metal worker building the Trans-Alaska Pipeline .

Crawford, along with Eric Croft and David Guttenberg , initiated two voting initiatives that were successful with the electorate: the Alaska Replacement of US Senators Initiative in 2004, with which voters decided that vacancies in the Senate would be filled by the voters, and in 2006 the Alaska Campaign Finance Reform Initiative that limited the amount of money that an individual or group can donate to a candidate or political party.

In his second attempt to win a seat in the Alaska House of Representatives , he defeated long-time incumbent Ramona Barnes in District 22 in 2000 . Crawford was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 2001 to 2011 - following a redesign of the electoral districts from 2003 for another eight years in District 21.

In 2010 Crawford ran for Alaska's At-Large Congressional constituency in the United States House of Representatives . He was defeated by the Republican incumbent Don Young . Crawford is running for Alaska's House of Representatives in constituency 27 in the 2016 election.
