The Harry Frank Guggenheim Foundation (HFG) is a science foundation founded in 1929 by the businessman and philanthropist Harry F. Guggenheim and is based in New York City . The Chairman of the Board is Peter Lawson-Johnston and President is Josiah Bunting III. It supports research work (dissertations, etc.) from different areas such as anthropology , biology , history , criminology , political science , psychology , social science , etc. with a focus on violence , aggression or dominance . The HGF Review of Research appears regularly . The foundation awarded the $ 50,000 Guggenheim-Lehrman Prize in Military History . It has been awarded since 2013 and has previously gone to Allen C. Guelzo (2013) and Alexander Watson (2014).
