Harry Koch (born November 15, 1969 in Bamberg ) is a former German soccer player and today's coach .

Career

The 1.84 m tall defender came to 1. FC Kaiserslautern from regional league team TSV Vestenbergsgreuth in 1995 , after drawing attention to himself in the sensational 1-0 Vestenbergsgreuther against FC Bayern Munich in the first round of the 1994/95 DFB Cup had made. In his first season he was relegated to the 2nd Bundesliga with FCK , but won the DFB Cup . After the direct resurgence, he became German champion in 1998 with the FCK. By 2003 he had played 220 league games for FCK, 187 of them in the Bundesliga .

In the Palatinate he was a crowd favorite because of his fighting spirit. In addition, Koch was a sure-fire penalty taker: He scored 11 of 12 penalties in the Bundesliga.

The Franconian then played for two years in the second division and one year in the Regionalliga Süd for Eintracht Trier . In 2006 he ended his playing career. In September 2006 he became coach of the Rhineland league club SV Dörbach , where he replaced Werner Kartz . After the club's relegation to the Bezirksliga West and the departure of several players, Koch resigned as a coach in July 2011.

Private

His son Robin is also an active soccer player and plays for SC Freiburg .
