Harry Kunze

Harry Kunze (born August 8, 1948 ) was a football player in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association . There he was active at FC Carl Zeiss Jena and Halleschen FC Chemie .

Athletic career

Kunze's first football community was SG Döschwitz, where he began his football career in 1965. In 1969, at the age of 21, he moved to BSG Chemie Zeitz in the third-class Halle (Saale) district league . In 1972 he was promoted to the GDR league with the Zeitzers . A year later, the Zeitzer season winners, but failed in the promotion to the league. At the end of the 1972/73 season, BSG Chemie delegated their 1.73 m tall striker to the league club and GDR runner-up FC Carl Zeiss Jena.

Kunze played his first league game on the first matchday of the 1973/74 season on August 18, 1974 when Chemistry Leipzig - FC Carl Zeiss (1: 3) played briefly for eight minutes. In the further course of the season he did not get beyond the role of a substitute player. He was only used in four league games as a right winger for the full duration of the game. In total, he played 16 times in his first league season and scored only one goal. 1974/75 he was used in 13 league games, including five missions over 90 minutes. He scored twice. In both seasons he was also used in five of the eight European Cup games played. Of the 14 GDR Cup games played in the two seasons , Kunze only played three. At the cup win of the 1973/74 season he was only involved with one use in the second main round.

After Kunze was used in the 1975/76 season only twice on the 5th and 6th game day with short appearances as a substitute in the league team, he moved in January 1976 to the league club Hallescher FC Chemie. There he was used, however, only in a league game for 24 minutes. At the end of the season, Kunze returned to Chemie Zeitz. There he played in the GDR league until 1982. In recent years he has been called up as a midfielder and was team captain. During his time as a football player, he had already trained as a qualified engineering economist.
