Harry Mehrwald (born January 5, 1939 ) is a former German football player. In 1964 he played for SC Neubrandenburg in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

At the age of eleven, Harry Mehrwald started in 1950 at the tractor company sports association (BSG) in Groß Teetzleben ( Western Pomerania ). Via the BSG Empor Altentreptow he later came to the BSG Turbine Neubrandenburg, with which he rose from the third-rate 2nd GDR League (discontinued in 1963) to the 1st GDR League in 1962 . In the two GDR league seasons 1962/63 and 1963/64, when the Neubrandenburg started as a sports club, Mehrwald was a regular as a defender and was missing in the 56 league games only in one encounter. The 1963/64 season ended the SC Neubrandenburg as a climber in the league. There Harry Mehrwald was intended as a midfielder and also played the first five league games. For reasons that cannot be determined, Mehrwald then stopped playing for the first team of the Neubrandenburg team for a long time. In the 1967/68 season he played one more game for the SCN successor BSG Post Neubrandenburg in the GDR league. After that he did not appear in the higher soccer leagues.
