Harry Pottle

Harold George Pottle (* 1925 in Hanwell , Middlesex , United Kingdom , † 1998 in Dorset , United Kingdom) was a British film architect .

Life

Pottle attended the Ealing College of Art from 1944 to 1947 and was also a member of the Fleet Air Arm . In 1947 he joined the British film industry as a draftsman for Julien Duvivier's opulent Anna Karenina film starring Vivien Leigh . Pottle remained active in drawing until 1956 and began working as a film architect in the same year. In this job, he designed the buildings for both cinema and television productions, including the popular crime series Mit Schirm, Charme und Melone and Die 2 . Occasionally Pottle was also involved in the design of elaborate A-entertainment such as the film James Bond 007 - You Only Live Twice or the colorful, imaginative children's adventure Chitty Chitty Bang Bang , both based on models by Ian Fleming .
