Hartmut Eichler (born February 25, 1937 in Birkenwerder , † April 23, 2007 in Hohen Neuendorf ) was a German pop singer.

Life

Hartmut Eichler first learned to be a painter. In 1957, he won the public talent competition organized by the Berliner Rundfunk , which was linked to the delegation to its young talent studio. So he graduated from the first round in 1958 and in the same year took up the first title for radio and records. There he also met his future wife Karla Schreiter (* 1939), with whom he later occasionally appeared in duets, for example in the 1981 successful title Bossa Nova in the Starlight and Enchanted in Love . Eichler gave his wife two of his hit titles on her 25th birthday: Sweet, little devil and Carola .

From 1963 to 1964 he was a member of the Erich Weinert Ensemble , the music, dance and theater group of the National People's Army of the GDR . Numerous television appearances followed at Klock 8, aft Strom , a maritime music program, in the Rostock “Hafenbar”. There he presented the title Was die Sommersonne kann , which was produced a short time later with him at the Polydor record label .

Hartmut Eichler had regular appearances in well-known television and radio programs in the GDR. With his happy and winning demeanor, he gained a lot of sympathy and quickly became popular both nationally and internationally.

He was not allowed to sing some of his titles on stage for over two decades, and they disappeared in the radio archives because their composers had left the GDR. To this day these titles have not appeared on Amiga disks.

Eichler sang over 150 hits and later studied fine arts for a few semesters at the Weissensee School of Art . He had his last stage appearance in 2006. In December of the same year he fell ill and had to be referred to a hospital in January 2007. His wife last looked after him in their common house in Hohen Neuendorf near Berlin , where he died on April 23, 2007 of complications from lung cancer .
