Hartmut Handt

Hartmut Handt (born March 12, 1940 in Wuppertal ) is a German writer and songwriter .

Life

Hartmut Handt studied theology and various humanities in Reutlingen, Tübingen, Heidelberg and Göttingen. He was the parish pastor of the United Methodist Church (UMC) in Milwaukee (USA) and West Germany. In 1979 he became federal warden in the Christian Singers Association (CS), in 1998 head of radio m , the private broadcasting agency of the UMC. He was appointed as the representative for church music and hymn book of the UMC. He is the author of poems, stories and practical texts for worship services, translator and editor of books and choral music. After his retirement in 2005 he moved to Cologne, where he lives today. He is a member of the lyricists and composers group TAKT and the Global Praise Working Group as well as theCharles Wesley Society and the International Working Group on Hymnology (IAH).
