Hartmut Oetker

Hartmut Oetker (born March 14, 1959 in Hildesheim ) is a German legal scholar and full professor at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . There he holds the chair for civil law , labor law and business law . His research focus is on labor law, and publications on civil law, commercial and company law.

Oetker studied law at the Free University of Berlin , where he passed his first state examination in 1983 . In 1986 Oetker received his doctorate with a thesis on co-determination law at the law faculty of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . After taking the second state examination in law at the joint examination office of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein in 1988, he completed his habilitation in 1993 in Kiel for the subjects of civil law , labor law , commercial and company law .

In 1995 Oetker was appointed university professor at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena . In autumn 2005 he accepted an appointment at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel , where he succeeded Peter Kreutz .

Oetker is a judge at the Thuringian Higher Regional Court and a member of the board of the Ernst Abbe Foundation .
