Hartmut Scheer

Hartmut Scheer (born August 11, 1941 in Stuttgart ) is a German diplomat . His last position was Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Montreal ( Canada ) until he retired on June 30, 2006 .

Hartmut Scheer studied law at the universities of Tübingen and Heidelberg , which he completed in 1972 with the second state examination in law. After joining the Foreign Service in 1973, he was employed in the Foreign Office (adviser for Poland), at the Embassy in Prague (head of the legal and consular section) and in the Foreign Office (adviser for Czechoslovakia and Bulgaria ).

From 1982 to 1985 he was Deputy Consul General in Istanbul and subsequently worked at the Embassy in Tehran as head of the economic department. From 1988 to 1991 Hartmut Scheer was deputy head of the department “European Union - Social, Agricultural and Structural Policy, Internal Market and Bilateral Economic Relations with the EU Member States” at the Foreign Office in Bonn. In 1991 he was appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Qatar .

Hartmut Scheer was then Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Karachi ( Pakistan ) from 1994 to 1996 . From 1996 to 2001 he was the head of the economic department at the embassy in Ankara . Before his last assignment, he was head of the legal and consular department at the embassy in Moscow from 2001 to August 31, 2003.

Consul General a. D. Hartmut Scheer has been working as a management consultant with a focus on Turkey since his retirement.
