Hartmuth Behrens

Hartmuth Behrens (born March 3, 1951 in Rüterberg ) is a former German foil fencer at SC Dynamo Eisenach and later at SC Dynamo Berlin. He took part in the Olympic Games in Moscow for the German Democratic Republic and was vice world champion with the team in 1983 . At the GDR championships he was twice successful and runner-up several times.

In 1976 and 1979 Behrens was GDR champion, and between 1970 and 1983 he was five times runner-up and once third. In 1980 he was the best German participant with a shared 9th place at the Olympic Games in Moscow together with Klaus Kotzmann . Together with Adrian Germanus , Klaus Haertter and Siegmar Gutzeit they finished fourth with the team . At the 1983 World Championships in Vienna he was runner-up behind the Federal Republic of Germany together with Adrian Germanus, Klaus Kotzmann and Jens Howe .
