Hartwig Isernhagen

Hartwig Wolf Ernst Isernhagen (born November 24, 1940 in Oldenburg ) is a German Anglist and professor emeritus for American literature at the University of Basel .

Life

Isernhagen studied at the Universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Cologne , the University of Pennsylvania and Würzburg . He received his doctorate in 1969 in Freiburg and his habilitation in 1979 in Würzburg. After a year at the University of Texas at Austin , he was Full Professor of American Literature at the University of Basel from 1981 to 2004 .
