Hasan di Tiro
Hasan di Tiro (born September 25, 1925 in Pidie , † June 3, 2010 in Aceh ) was the founder of the separatist organization Movement Free Aceh (GAM), an organization that has been striving for Aceh's independence from Indonesia since the 1970s.
Hasan di Tiro was the dynastic successor of the Sultans of Aceh, and if the Muslim monarchy in Aceh had been restored, he or his eldest son would become the Sultan of Aceh. Since 1980 he lived in Stockholm , Sweden . He also had Swedish citizenship.
After the tsunami at the end of 2004 , the GAM and the Indonesian government signed a peace agreement that provides for more autonomy for Aceh and was accepted by di Tiro.
