Schwarz Weiß is the third album by the Austrian pop rock singer Christina Stürmer . However, it does not count as a studio album, as it mostly only presents older songs specially for foreign countries and therefore did not appear in Austria. It was released on May 30, 2005 as Stürmer's first album release outside of Austria and reached number 3 in the German album charts .

background

The first release of an album by the singer outside of Austria was placed in the German charts for 52 weeks. In Switzerland, production reached number 12 in the ranking.

After a great national response in Austria with the albums Freier Fall and Should that really be everything? The positioning of Christina Stürmer in the international German-speaking area was planned and prepared in 2004. The first attempt was the release of the single Vorbei in Germany in November 2004. With this release, Stürmer could not repeat her success from Austria. Past only reached number 83 in the German single charts.

The album Schwarz Weiß mostly includes titles that have already been published, some of which have been revised and marked as the "2005" version. Only the songs are you with me? and 4 seasons were first published. The management around Andreas Streit and Bernd Rengelshausen supported the sales of the album in Germany and Switzerland with an extensive promotion campaign in the press, radio and television. In autumn 2005 Christina Stürmer was able to establish herself in Germany and Switzerland on a tour coupled with the release of the album.

music

The titles that were revised and newly produced for the album promoted Christina Stürmer's international acceptance. Overall, the songs seem faster and more instrumental than on the two previous albums. The band around Stürmer is more strongly represented, and the music is developing more towards German rock . Overall, there wasn't much that was new to hear with this release, the album can rather be compared to a compilation of Christina Stürmer's "Best Of" songs.

The text of Loves you like me comes from Peter and Gaby Wessely .

Reviews

  • SR 1 Europawelle : “The ballad Engel is outstanding, and the accounting song Gone is also a blast. With the songs Ich lebe und Mama she was already at number one in Austria - and rightly so. You can feel that Christinalistensto alot of German music, especially Die Ärzte - the song Glücklich could also be on a Farin Urlaub solo CD. And when you listen to Always believed in you, you can already see the jumping open air audience of Christina Stürmer's summer concerts. "
  • Benjamin Fuchs, laut.de : “In terms of craftsmanship, the songs are all well done, of course there were professionals at work. The sound garment is roughened up to date, but not too hard. It's not original. Many songs sound like they have been heard elsewhere, maybe that's why they stick so well. The title track Schwarz Weiß is such a case. Or the beginning of Gone , which resembles the first bars of Simon and Garfunkel's Mrs. Robinson as much as the common roll is to the milk roll. The production also looks quite smooth overall. But that's just how it is when a record is built with the guarantee of success. "
  • Robert Misik, the daily newspaper : “Christina who? you ask now. Never heard? Stürmer (23) is a rock brat who is actually quite good in her own way. Sure, she can't compete with the heroes. But she is no worse than Silbermond or Sportfreunde Stiller - not to mention revenants like Nena. That's a lot in Austria, where people don't say pop, but rather ' Austropop ' about pop at home , and where since the death of the legendary Falco there has been nothing but fallow in the alternative mainstream. Christina Stürmer is the best in pop that Austria has produced since Falco. Sure: That doesn't speak for you. But against Austria. "
