Hasbach (Rösrath)

Hasbach is a district of the town of Rösrath in the Rhein-Berg district near Cologne.

Location and description

The district, which essentially consists of the three streets Auf dem Neuen Feld, Hasbacher Straße and Wolfsheideweg, is located in the Wahner Heide nature reserve and is thus separated from the rest of the community by the BAB 3 . However, there is a direct connection to Rösrath-Zentrum via Hasbacher Straße.

Hasbach historically belongs to the type of village settlements - as opposed to the typical Hofsiedlung for the Bergisches Land - as they were typical for the Cologne Bay. The current name is due to the syllable "-bach" but meaningful, since the district was originally called "Hasbich". Translated, the syllable "-bich" means "mountain" and was used for those settlement areas that are on a mountain or a hill.
