Cheap Records is an Austrian music label for mainly electronic music . It is run by musician and DJ Erdem Tunakan and is based in Vienna .

history

Cheap Records was founded in 1993 by Erdem Tunakan together with Patrick Pulsinger in Vienna. Artists like Christopher Just , Robert Hood , Gerhard Potuznik , Kentolevi , Sluta Leta , Louie Austen and Khan have released on Cheap Records . Up to 20,000 of the most successful records were sold, most of them abroad.

While Pulsinger was mainly responsible for the music production, Tunakan represented the label externally and managed the business processes. Pulsinger left Cheap Records in 2003, especially because he no longer saw a viable business model in a classical music label due to increasing digitalization and wanted to devote himself to other tasks. Since then, Tunakan has continued to run the label alone.

In 2008 the sub-label Cheap Rec. Rocks was founded, which acts as a platform for other styles of music. Bands such as Freud and The Trojan Horse published there .
