Louie Austen (born September 19, 1946 in Vienna as Alois Luef ) is an Austrian pianist , accordion player , guitarist , bar and jazz singer . It has also been at home in the electronic music scene for some time.

Live and act

At the age of eight, Alois Luef wanted an accordion . Although he showed himself to be a talent from a young age, his parents insisted on a classical education. After graduating from high school , he began studying engineering, which he soon broke off. He switched to the Vienna Conservatory to study singing and acting. After completing his studies, Louie Austen, as he later called himself, emigrated to South Africa . But he did not stay there long because he rejected the apartheid policy and moved to Australia. He then ended up in New York until he finally settled in Las Vegas . There he followed in the footsteps of great entertainers such as Frank Sinatra , Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. and performed with the combo The Harlem Blues & Jazz Band , among others .

After six years abroad, Louie Austen came back to Austria in 1980 and started as a bar singer at the Hilton Hotel , but was soon lured away by the Marriott Hotel.

In 1999 a new project started - the connection of club sounds from Mario Neugebauer and Austen's crooner 's voice . In this context, the debut album Consequences was created on Cheap Records . Due to the success he gave up his job as a bar singer and concentrated entirely on his albums and appearances. Mario Neugebauer and Patrick Pulsinger then produced two more albums for Louie Austen in cooperation with Cheap records with Kitty-Yo , and in 2006 a Best Of album of this cooperation was released in England on Tirk Records, because Austen, Pulsinger and Neugebauer have been going their separate ways since 2004 .

For the album Iguana (released in 2006 by Klein Records) Louie Austen gathered various producers, including a. Jeff Melnyk, Friction, Phonique and the Viennese Stefan Jungmair .

In 2007 Louie Austen founded his own label LA MUSIC (Louie Austen Music), on which three EPs have so far appeared: The Summer Love EP , the Reality EP (Richard Sanderson cover version) created in collaboration with Señor Coconut and the 2008 EP with ex-Blumfeld -Keyboarder Vredeber Albrecht recorded Too Good To Last EP . With Señor Coconut, Louie was on the "Around The World" tour across Europe in 2008 and was featured on the album of the same name.

In the film Die Fälscher by Stefan Ruzowitzky, Louie Austen can be seen in a supporting role as a casino gamer. He also appeared at the Burgtheater in Vienna in a production of Nestroy's play in hell .

In 2009 Louie Austen released a love letter to Amy Winehouse , the Parov Stelar- produced MyAmy / Flying Away EP .

In 2010, Austen's own label LA Music released the Paris / Make Your Move Remixes as well as a new double album consisting of an album and a remix album entitled Last Man Crooning / Electrotaining You! and another single, the I Wander / Now Or Never Remixes .

Louie Austen regularly performs internationally, but also in the Cascade Bar of the Vienna Marriott Hotel. Every Saturday since October 2008 there has been a Louie's Saturday with a changing program. a. Best Of Rat Pack.

He lives on his “ranch” in Kritzendorf .
