life and work

Potuznik was already engaged in art and music as a teenager. His art teacher at the grammar school was Stefan Weber , who hired him early as a roadie for the concerts of his band Drahdiwaberl . Potuznik began producing his first pieces of music in the 1980s. His first synth-pop record Now I Know , which he released on GiG Records in 1989 under the pseudonym Hype , turned out to be a flop. At the same time he was active as a graphic designer and designed publications for artists and bands such as Edelweiss , Club 69 , Bingoboys and Beat 4 Feet .

In 1993 Potuznik met the musician Patrick Pulsinger , who had just founded the Cheap Records label together with Erdem Tunakan . Together the three musicians released an album and four singles under the project name iO until 1995 on Cheap Records and Mo 'Wax . Potuznik and Tunakan also supported Pulsinger in the production of his debut album Porno (1994).

In 1994 Potuznik founded the band Mäuse with Tex Rubinowitz , which was supposed to combine rock 'n' roll with electronic music. After a few releases, the band split up in 1998 for the time being. At the same time, the first solo releases influenced by Detroit techno appeared as Potuznik on Cheap Records. Numerous other releases on labels such as Mego , Sabotage, Pomelo, Uptight, Morbid and Disko B followed . His first solo album Amore Motore (… Autobahn) was released in 1996 on Mego. He also founded various projects with Hans Platzgumer , whom Potuznik met in the mid-1990s. As Cube & Sphere , both dedicated themselves to drum and bass . In addition to a few singles, the album Great Norwegian Explorers was released in 1998 on the Munich label Disko B. Through Platzgumer, Potuznik also learned the Chicks on Speed , for which he produced several releases.

After Potuznik got to know the British musician Ed Upton alias DMX Krew , he found a platform for his more 80s-influenced electro tracks on his label Breakin 'Records . For these publications Potuznik used the pseudonym GD Luxxe for the first time . Under this name he released the album Submission and two singles on Breakin 'Records in 1999 . In the summer of 2003 he released the album The 21st Door on Interdimensional Transmissions as GD Luxxe . A year later, the album Between Zero And Eternity followed on Ersatz Audio. His next album, Make , was released in 2005 on Angelika Köhlermann .

In 2007 Potuznik and Rubinowitz revived the Mäuse project together with Philipp Quehenberger (keyboards) and Didi Kern (drums) . In 2011 Angelika Köhlermann released the EP Nothing is better than mice . The mice album Das Judasevangelium followed in 2013 .

In 2018 Potuznik founded the rock band The Happy Sun with Josef Zorn and Christoph Baumgartner , in which Potuznik is active as a guitarist and singer. In September 2019 the self-titled debut album The Happy Sun was released .
