Menzlingen

Menzlingen is a district of the city of Rösrath in the Rhein-Berg district near Cologne.

Location and description

The district, which essentially consists of the street of the same name and the Menzlinger Weg, is located west of Oberschönrath and the nature reserve Kupfersiefer Bachtal , north of Rambrücken and south or east of Rösrath between Sülz and Kupfersiefer Bach . To the north, the Menzlinger Weg leads directly to Lüghausen , in the south there is a connection to the Sülztalstraße, which connects Rösrath-Zentrum and Rambrücken.

Menzlingen is one of the oldest settlements in the municipality of Rösrath and is considered a “classic example” of a village-like, self-contained way of settlement, because like “in a small medieval town, the houses are still sticking tight there today - as they were at the time of the Thirty Years' War tight. ”At the time of the Bergische Elector, Menzlingen was still a separate community and until 1850 it belonged to the Altenrath church district.

In the district there is a retirement and nursing home that was put into operation in a former residential building in the mid-1970s.
