Hasen-Ahlers

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hinnerk Ahlers (born October 14, 1831 in Klattenhof , municipality of Dötlingen ; † June 26, 1913 in Immer , municipality of Ganderkesee ), better known as Hasen-Ahlers , was the most famous poacher in the Oldenburg region .

Live and act

He is said to have left home at a young age after an unhappy love affair and moved to the nearby Stüher Wald as a dropout . There he lived in a sheepfold and lived on the hunt. The almost two meter tall man often drove a car to Delmenhorst to sell firewood and his hunting booty. For the police, the giant was a poacher who, as a sure shooter, killed many rabbits. So it happened that he was arrested again and again and had to sit in prison a total of 52 times.

The poacher was already a legend during his lifetime. After the Delmenhorst – Osnabrück railway line was completed in 1898 , the Immer, Stüher Forst and thus also Hasen-Ahlers became a worthwhile destination for many Delmenhorst and Bremer residents. Everyone wanted to see and hear the famous Wildschütz when he sang his "Hasen Ahlers Lied" (and often received a good tip for it).

Hasen-Ahlers monument in Feldhake (2013)

In order to preserve the memory of Hasen-Ahlers, the former owner of the Waldschlösschen in Immer (today the Haus am Wald nursing home ) erected a monument that was crowned with a bronze rabbit. In 1932 the memorial was moved to Feldhake, northwest of Klattenhof, and adorned with the inscription of the first verse of the Hasen-Ahlers song. An early concert takes place here every year on Pentecost Sunday. The Hasen-Ahlers-Weg from Stühe towards the monument also reminds of him.
