Hasso Heinrich Wollheim

Hasso Heinrich Wollheim ( October 1, 1893 , † 1980 ) was a German surgeon.

Career

Hasso Heinrich Wollheim was born as the son of the machine manufacturer Heinrich Wollheim (1855-1927) and his wife Gertrud Wollheim (1867-1944). His younger brother was the painter Gert H. Wollheim . Hasso Wollheim first studied natural sciences and zoology. The First World War , in which he participated as an officer, interrupted his studies. After the end of the war he turned to medicine. In 1928 he graduated from the University of Munich with a doctorate in 1928 .

From 1921 he worked as an assistant doctor, in 1923 he became senior physician at the surgical clinic in Munich. From 1929 to 1951 he was chief physician and head of the hospital in Obernzell . Under his direction, the inadequately equipped hospital was expanded into a modern surgical clinic. He himself gained wide recognition as an orthopedic surgeon and as a goiter specialist . In addition, he built up the district association of the German Red Cross and was chairman of the Bavarian youth protection organization. As a half-Jew, he was forbidden to work in public life during the Nazi era .

In 1945 he took over the chairmanship of the Medical District Association of Passau. In this role he supported the integration of displaced doctors. From July 1947 he also worked as a medical advisor for the Bavarian Association of Cities .

From 1945 to 1948 he was mayor of the municipality of Obernzell. Before moving to the Chiemsee in the spring of 1951, he was given honorary citizenship of the community.
