Hasso Hohmann

Hasso Hohmann (born October 20, 1943 in Ettlingen near Karlsruhe ) is an architect and university lecturer living in Graz .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in 1965 at the "Helmholtz Realgymnasium" in Essen , Hohmann studied architecture from 1965 to 1973 at the Technical University in Graz and ethnology with a focus on ancient American studies at the Karl Franzens University in Graz . Hohmann dealt primarily with the buildings of the Mayan culture and wrote a dissertation in the subject of art history on the buildings of Copan . From 1974 to 1977 he worked as a university assistant at TU Graz. 1978 Hasso Hohmann received his doctorate in technical engineering . precisely where he worked in the sequence from 1993 to 1996 as a lecturer and in the field in 1997 architecture habilitated .

In 1998 he taught at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México in Mexico City . Since 2000 he has been teaching Islamic and ancient American architecture at Graz University of Technology.

Hohmann organized numerous study trips and published a wealth of specialist literature. He has been co-editor of the quarterly magazine of the International City Forum Graz (ISG) since 1983 and is active in numerous committees and associations, among others in the "Central Association of Austrian Architects" (1981 to 1985 board member), in the "Graz Old Town Expert Commission" ( Member from 1979 to 1999), in the "Archäologische Gesellschaft Steiermark" (board member since the foundation, 1985 to 1988 as president) and in "Europa Nostra Austria" (managing director).

Hohmann worked as a site surveyor in various cities and communities in Styria . He successfully campaigned for the preservation of archaeologically valuable areas of the former Flavia Solva . Hohmann gives numerous lectures, designs exhibitions and is active in popular education. In 2005 he received the Gold Medal of Honor of the State of Styria .
