Hatoyama Haruko
Hatoyama Haruko ( Japanese 鳩 山 春 子 , born Taga Haruko (多 賀 春 子); born May 2, 1861 in Matsumoto ( Shinano Province ); died July 12, 1938 ) was a Japanese educator .
Live and act
Hatoyama Haruko graduated from the "Teacher Training Institute for Women, Tōkyō" (東京 女子 師範学校, Tōkyō joshi shihan gakkō), today "Ochanomizu Women's University" (お 茶 の 水 女子 大学, Ochanomizu joshi daigaku), where she later taught. In 1881 she married Hatoyama Kazuo , a politician and lawyer. She invited friends and acquaintances to the first wedding banquet (結婚 披露 宴; Kekkon hirōen) in Japan. Her sons included the future Prime Minister Hatoyama Ichirō and the lawyer Hatoyama Hideo .
In 1886 she supported the educator Miyagawa Hozen (宮 川 保全; 1852-1922) in founding the "Municipal School for Vocational Training for Women" (共 立 女子 職業 学校, Kyōritsu joshi shokugyō gakkō), today's "Municipal School for Women" (共 立女子 学園, Kyōritsu joshi gakuen) and worked after Miyagawa as her president from 1925 until her death. 1927 she was by Pope Pius XI. awarded a medal.
