The Neuaubing Middle School , the former secondary school on Wiesentfelser Straße , has been a Munich middle school in the Neuaubing district since August 1, 2011 . As part of the decreed restructuring of the Bavarian secondary schools, it had to join forces with three other secondary schools. She has received a number of school awards since 2005.

History of the school building

The core area of the school district of the school on Wiesentfelser Straße was largely a fallow heathland until 1960. In 1965 work began on creating a large residential area with 1758 apartments for around 6000 residents. Numerous families moved in. The school on Limesstrasse, built in 1908 for the Neuaubing settlement, which was being built, and the school on Reichenaustrasse had to accept around 700 children from the new settlement. Construction of the school building on Wiesentfelser Strasse began on March 15, 1967. Classes could begin on April 23, 1968.

From September 1969 there was an independent secondary school at Wiesentfelser Straße 53. The constant increase in the percentage of foreign children was and is still noticeable today. A major problem since the school was founded has been a necessary renovation: In May 1991, the environmental department received information about the building's PCB contamination. In January 1995 it was clear that the school had to be renovated. The cost was estimated at 18 million DM. However, it took until September 1999 for the first construction phase to be completed. In March 2000 the first two classes were able to move into renovated rooms. At the end of the year, the new administration rooms on the 1st floor were also available. Since 2011 there has been a severe shortage of space in primary and secondary schools.

Name of the school

When the quarter was built in the 1960s, place names from Franconian Switzerland were used to name the streets. The school was then called the Hauptschule on Wiesentfelser Strasse . The street on which the school is located is named after the Wiesentfels village and castle . On August 1, 2011, the school was renamed Middle School on Wiesentfelser Straße .

Architecture and buildings

The building is located on urban land and it takes up a large area, as it is only built on two floors and houses a primary school in addition to the middle school. The style of construction corresponds to the panel construction of the 1960s. There are four inner courtyards.
