The Haus Schönblick - Christian Guest Center Württemberg (colloquially just Schönblick ) is a facility complex of the Old Pietist Community Association in Württemberg near Schwäbisch Gmünd in the Ostalb district . It is the largest Christian guest center in Germany.

In addition to the Evangelical Community of Schönblick, the Schönblick houses the historic guest house, which, together with the modern Forum congress center and a seminar house, forms the Christian conference and guest center . In addition, the complex includes the Christian community music school Schönblick , the nursing home Linde First , the retirement village Schönblick and the Schönblick cafe .

history

The history of the Schönblick goes back to March 1914, when the Old Pietistic Community Association in Württemberg, under its then chairman, Rector Christian Dietrich, called for the construction of a Christian rest home. The foundation stone was laid in May 1915 and in July 1916 the Schönblick rest home - today the guest house - was inaugurated, which was rebuilt in 2003 and extensively renovated in 2018.

Four years later, the Lindenfirst inn was acquired for the establishment of a children's rest home, which opened in November 1921.

With the erection of the ELIM barracks on Schönblick in August 1924, the youth leisure home, which was converted into a leisure and training center in 1992 and a seminar house in 2006 , was inaugurated.

The Schönblick was confiscated for the first time in August 1939 - "for the precautionary establishment of a reserve hospital" (repealed on October 25, 1939).

From August 1941 the Schönblick was taken over by the State Insurance Institute (LVA) for the establishment of a pulmonary hospital. It was not until June 1952 that the LVA returned all of the Schönblick facilities. This was followed by the reopening of the rest home in October 1952.

In July 1985 the decision was made to convert the Lindenfirst on the Schönblick into a home for guests in need of care - today's old people's and nursing home - which was inaugurated in May 1986 and expanded in 1999.

Martin Scheuermann has been the head of the house and managing director since January 1998 . Under his leadership, the Evangelical Church Schönblick was founded in January 2002, which as a community community enjoys a special status within the Evangelical Church in Württemberg .

The Christian community music school Schönblick was founded in autumn 2001 . In August 2002 the first residents moved into the new senior citizens' residential complex on Schönblick - after only 15 months of construction. The forum , a congress and conference facility for more than 1000 people, was opened in February 2007 after less than two years of construction.

In 2018, the guest center with its 200 employees had 555 beds and 24 conference rooms. It can accommodate up to 1,000 visitors at conferences and concerts.
