House Schuchmann

The Schuchmann house in Bremerhaven - Geestemünde Bartelstraße 1 / Kaistraße was built in 1922 according to plans by Heinrich Jäger.

It has been a listed building in Bremen since 1979 .

history

Hermann Schuchmann (1890–1980) was one of the heirs of the shipowner Wilhelm Schuchmann (1858–1943). In 1922 he built the very representative two-storey villa in the conservative and neoclassical style of the 1920s for the family directly on the quay of the Geestemünder Handelshafen . A portico with four Ionic columns underlines the importance of the residential building and a lookout as a roof turret with flagpole and at that time the shipping company flag is a maritime element.

In 1938 the shipping company owned 48 freighters and 21 rescue vehicles.

Today (2018) the house belongs to the See-Berufsgenossenschaft .
