House Thal

House Thal was a moated castle on the Sülz near Immekeppel ( Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis ) in the former Bergisches Amt of Porz .

From the end of the 16th century to around 1620, the house was owned by the von Reuschenberg family . Under Duke Wolfgang Wilhelm von Pfalz-Neuburg (in the 17th century) it was a knight seat in the Duchy of Jülich-Berg that was eligible for state assembly .

The land survey Topographia Ducatus Montani by Erich Philipp Ploennies records the moated castle in 1715 as "Adelich House".

In its heyday, the moated castle consisted of the castle house with the agricultural buildings protected on the castle island as well as a completely disappeared agricultural yard in front of the castle to the north.

The last remnant of the rectangular moat was leveled in June 2008 from the system built before 1605. The substructure of today's garden pavilion with a weather vane dated from 1721 , which was once built on the edge of the castle island, has been preserved. The castle house, which was converted into a mansion with radiant avenues at that time, was demolished in 1968. The Hellenthal castle house on the other side of the Immekeppel, which is comparable in terms of structure , has been preserved.

House Thal belonged to the castles and palaces of the Sülztal, such as: Georghausen Castle , Venauen House , Eulenbroich Castle .
