House at the Bishop's Gate
The house at Bischofstor is located in Bremen , Mitte district, Ostertor district , Rembertistraße 4/5, at the corner of Rembertikirchweg. The house was built in 1822 according to plans by Heinrich Seemann. It has been a listed building in Bremen since 1986 .
history
The old bishop's gate was a gate in the Bremen city wall , which was first mentioned in 1274 as acus episcopi (bishop's needle ) and was demolished around 1826. New gatehouses were built in 1830 and 1836.
The two-storey, six-axle residential building at the Bischofstor was designed by the master mason Seemann in the classicism style . The large gable is striking.
Today (2018) it is a residential and office building (law firm).
